■Organic JAS
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, established the Japanese Agricultural Standards for organic agricultural products and their processed products, and improved labeling through a revision in 1999 to the Act on Standardization and Proper Labeling of Agricultural and Forestry Products. The registered certifying body will conduct a document review and an on-site inspection to confirm whether standards are met, and when the body has confirmed that the business is conducted consistent with the standards, the business operator will be certified. Except for attachment of an “Organic JAS Mark” by such certified business operators, it has been prohibited to attach “Organic” or other similar labels to any packaging.■Organic JAS Standards

・Pastured or otherwise raised without stress.
・Antibiotics or other such substances are not used to prevent illnesses.

Organic Processed Food Products
・Use of chemically-synthesized food additives or drugs is avoided as much as possible.
・Organic products are at least composed of 95% of the raw materials, except water and salt.
・Products are processed at a factory that is managed to prevent contamination by drugs.
・Genetic engineering techniques are not used.
